Marilyn Joy was born on November 15, 1934, the daughter of Kenneth and Zillah (Ragan) Hibbs in New Hampton. When Marilyn was a girl she worked at New Hampton Library repairing books. In high school, Marilyn worked at Gardner Drug Store in the ice cream parlor where she met the love of her life, Maurice Randall. Marilyn was a 1952 graduate of New Hampton High School. On July 16, 1952, Marilyn and Maurice were united in marriage. Shortly after they were married, Maurice was stationed in Texas while he served in the US Army. While in Texas, Marilyn worked at El Paso National Bank. After Maurice’s honorable discharge, the couple returned to Iowa to be closer to family and welcomed their three children, Julie, Jolynn and Dean. Marilyn worked in the banking industry at Iowa Des Moines National Bank and, upon returning to New Hampton, Security Bank until her retirement in 1999.

Marilyn was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ and Red Hat Society. Marilyn enjoyed her volunteer work at Carnegie Cultural Center, the Chickasaw County Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and at her church. She and Maurice enjoyed traveling. So much so that they proudly visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Marilyn enjoyed reading, and has crocheted several afghans. She had quite the paperweight collection as well. But Marilyn’s greatest love was her family. She and Maurice enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Maurice Randall of New Hampton; her children, Julie (Mark) Nemmers of Spencer, IA, Jolynn (Gary) Snyder of Denver, CO and Dean (Tammy) Randall of New Hampton, IA; their grandchildren; great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Willadsen, Donna (Gene) Ritchmond, and Marsha (Jerry) Whitnable and three brothers, Larry (Doris) Hibbs, Karl (Jeanne) Hibbs, and Paul (Patti) Hibbs; in-laws, Eldon (Cathie) Randall and Delores Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Adam Liddle in 2015 and brother-in-law, Peter Willadson.
